The W. Murray Riddell and Betty C. Riddell Scholarship for International Experience provides support and assistance to recognize academic performance of deserving students continuing their undergraduate degree studies within the College of Agriculture and Bioresources to provide exposure to out-of-country or international experiences.

Activities and initiatives supported by this fund may include, but are not limited to:

  • Travel to attend  an international scientific meeting and/or conference to present original work
  • Participation in an international exchange program
  • Travel to attend an international student work conference
  • Working with a senior agrologist in a developing country

Guidelines: 

  • Applicants must be Canadian citizens who have completed at least one year of study towards an undergraduate degree within the College of Agriculture and Bioresources and are continuing their undergraduate degree studies within the College of Agriculture and Bioresources.
  • A student can receive the W. Murray Riddell and Betty C. Riddell Scholarship for International Experience only once
  • Students travelling outside of Canada must comply with requirements of the International Travel Registry in order to receive university funds. This registry is administered by the International Student and Travel Abroad Centre (ISSAC)
  • Successful applicants may receive up to $2,500 of funding (proposed budget and other sources of funding will be taken into consideration)
  • Selection will be based academic achievement and the merits of the submitted statement and budget

To apply, individuals must submit the following information to agbio.reception@usask.ca:

  • Name and student number
  • Nature of the activity, dates and location, brochure of event (if applicable), confirmation of registration and/or acceptance
  • Detailed budget, including other sources of funding applied for or approved
  • A statement of no more than three pages in length outlining their interest in international activities and out-of-country experiences , as well as benefits of the activity to the student and college
  • The application deadlines are October 15 and February 15. If no suitable applications have been received by these dates, then applications will be considered in the order in which they are received
