Research Interests

Dr. Nketia’s research program is core to AgBio's strategic priorities in sustainability and digital agriculture. His program focuses on developing innovative precision solutions and the integration of advanced technologies to enhance sustainability, resilience, productivity and profitability of dryland cropping systems – an area increasingly managed with digital agriculture technologies. His research leverages artificial intelligence, autonomous sensing technologies, and big data analytics, coupled with spatio-temporal statistical modeling, remote sensing, and GIS-based methodologies. A key focus is on unraveling the complexities of the soil-plant-climate continuum across multiple spatial and temporal scales to optimize resource use efficiency and mitigate environmental impacts. This will allow advance predictive agronomy, improve soil and water stewardship, and refine precision management strategies. His program is committed to building the capacity of the next generation of agricultural scientists and practitioners, equipping them with the skills and knowledge to leverage digital tools for sustainable and data-driven decision-making. The long-term vision is to empower producers with actionable, high-resolution agronomic intelligence, enhancing both economic viability and environmental sustainability.
