Eric van Cleef

Animal and Poultry Science

Before joining the Department of Animal and Poultry Science at the University of Saskatchewan, Dr. Eric van Cleef served as a Research Associate at the Livestock and Forage Centre of Excellence for one year and was a tenured Assistant Professor at the Federal University of Triângulo Mineiro (UFTM) in Brazil for eight years.

During his tenure at UFTM, Dr. van Cleef held leadership roles including Research and Graduate Studies Coordinator, Vice-Coordinator of the Animal Science Major, and membership on numerous institutional committees. He is also a member of the National Board of Higher Education Evaluators for the Brazilian Ministry of Education.

He serves as a reviewer for multiple international journals and funding agencies and has authored over 60 peer-reviewed publications, an edited book, two book chapters, and more than 240 conference abstracts. His research has been consistently supported by Brazilian funding agencies including FAPESP, FAPEMIG, CNPq, and currently by the Agriculture Development Fund (ADF), supporting projects on alternative feedstuffs, integrated crop-livestock systems, and sustainable grazing systems. His honors include the “CNBA Research Award” from the Brazilian College of Animal Nutrition and the “Rommert Politiek Award” from the European Association for Animal Production.
