No Till Gardening
Gardening General
2-hour online class. If you love to garden but hate weeding and watering, join us as we explore no till gardening with Kim Ross. Through the use of permanent seed beds and mulch, no till gardening protects the soil's structure and can reduce the amount of water needed on the garden, prevent weeds from growing and increase yields through an improvement in the quality of the soil. Kim will share how she made the switch and the differences she has found in just two years of no till gardening, Kim has been producing vegetables and fruits for many years for her family of 6. When she embraced the no till gardening method taught by the USask gardening team she has enjoyed higher yields with fewer plants, significantly less weeds and reduced watering on her 26,000 sq ft garden.
$20 plus GST for a 2 hour, live-streamed class. Registration is for a single student in one household. If multiple students will be viewing from the same location, each additional student is $10. Course fees are non-refundable.

About your Instructor
Kim Ross is a fifth generation farm girl who spent her summers picking pea's in her mother's garden and traveling the prairie land around the farm with her Grandparents looking for the best saskatoons to pick. Producing food was a way of life and it's a tradition Kim continued with her own children! From her 26,000 square foot no till garden that produces vegetables, fruit and fresh herbs, to producing vegetables all winter long, Kim is an avid grower that enjoys sharing with other gardeners. Kim is a Master Gardener and is working on her Prairie Horticulture Certificate in both the Greenhouse Crop production and Vegetable and Fruit Production streams.
Format
This class is offered in an online, live-stream format that you can access from your computer, phone or tablet. Your distance class will include your instructor and their presentation live on-screen and the ability for you to ask questions through the course chat. You will not receive a recording nor handouts for this class, but we're confident you will get good educational value.
Our students report the technology is quite simple to use both on computers and on personal devices like tablets and phones. We will send you instructions one hour before the class along with a contact help you in case there are any issues connecting. It's been remarkably stable for everyone with a strong internet connection. If you have a weak internet connection you might have audio problems, though we've only had this issue with people in isolated areas. Since there is a call-in option for sound, you will still be able to hear but you may not be able to see the instructor and slides if you have a poor internet connection.
