Dr. Sean Prager says moving live insects may take more time

USask Prof Moves Bug Lab Across International Border

Moving live insects takes time and precaution.

USask researcher and entomologist, Sean Prager understands that moving his live insect collection from his laboratory in the United States to his new laboratory in the Agriculture Building at USask requires more than just some boxes and packing tape.

If you want to bring live insects from the United States, Canadian federal officials will only grant a permit if you have a facility already set up to take custody of your specimens without the possibility of an outbreak,” said Prager in a recent article in the American Association for the Advancement of Sciences.

While Prager waits for additional funding, he has begun new partnerships with other USask researchers to look at how his knowledge can be used locally.
