International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists 2026
2026 brings us the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists, as adopted by the United Nations General Assembly.
This year recognizes and celebrates the importance of rangelands and their values which includes restoring degraded lands, conserving bio-cultural diversity, and maintaining and growing sustainable food systems. This year, the College of Agriculture and Bioresources at the University of Saskatchewan plans to hold monthly events highlighting programs and research related to rangelands and the pastoralists who keep these traditional practices alive and at the forefront of research.
To begin the year, the upcoming seminar series will be taking place in February and March, please check out the College’s seminar page for dates and times.
The International page for the IYRP 2026 also has additional information on rangelands and pastoralists and their importance relating to economic impact, culture, and environmental health from across the globe.
