Field Trips

Field trips for 2017 are complete. Registration for next year will open March 2018.

The FREE AgBio Discovery field trip program is designed to provide elementary teachers an opportunity to reinforce or introduce applied science concepts taught in the classroom through a series of highly interactive, engaging activities hosted at the College of Agriculture and Bioresources. Field trips are offered in May and June to grades 3 - 8 with a limit of 35 students per session.

Morning and afternoon sessions are available.

Sample Schedule:
9:30 am Arrival
9:35 am  Soil science activity - hand texturing
10  am    Plant science activity - botany/transplanting
10:45 am Animal science - tour the Feeding the World Interpretive Centre
11:30 am  Wrap-up and surveys
11:45 am Field trip complete


AgBio Discovery Camps

The AgBio Discovery Camps offer a fun, hands-on introduction to modern agriculture for campers from both urban and rural backgrounds.

Would you like to learn the science of making ice cream? Help care for a calf and or baby chicks? In this highly interactive camp, students will learn just how fun agriculture can be!

Campers are divided into two categories (grades refer to the year the student will be entering in the Fall): 

Week 1 July 4 - July 7 Explorers Grades 3/4
Week 2 July 10 - July 14 Voyagers Grades 5/6
Week 3 July 17 - July 21 Explorers Grades 3/4
Week 4 July 24 - July 28 Voyagers Grades 5/6
Week 5 July 31 - August 4 Explorers Grades 3/4
Week 6 August 8 - August 11 Voyagers Grades 5/6
Week 7 August 14 - August 18 Explorers Grades 3/4
Week 8 August 21 - August 25 Voyagers Grades 5/6
